Truth is Stranger than Fiction

Casting Director Workshops

We encourage actors to become informed about the nature of casting director workshops in LA.  Go to www.DoNotPay.org for detailed information and real opportunities to meet 'A' list casting directors without paying for it.

Like it or not, the entertainment industry in Los Angeles is run by business people who, more often than not, knowingly and unknowingly, cannibalize the very talent they depend on.

In this class, you will learn how health, socio-economic status, culture and love impact small behaviors that drive a character, a scene and a story forward.  In the age of information overload, you will learn to discern where and how to focus your attention in order to create characters that make the audience (and casting directors) buy into what you are doing.

A high priority is put on being able to sound unscripted, seeing the universal in the personal and finding your own solid technique for script analysis.  Method Acting means connecting with our humanity, our curiosity and being centered in our own true essence.  -Here's how Kevin Spacey puts it, "If you want to be an actor, you're going to have to ask yourself a lot of questions that you don't necessarily want to hear the answer to."

When I first moved to LA  in 2013 I saw Bette Midler in a play called "I'll Eat You Last: The Story of Sue Mengers".  It's the true story of one of Hollywood's greatest talent agents from the 1960s and 70s.  At first, I couldn't figure out what the title "I'll Eat You Last" meant, and then after a few months of living in Los Angeles, I  understood...  Onward!       -SM

Does it seem to you that it is possible to speak of art?

It would be the same as trying to explain love.
